AI Image Upscaler — Experimental

Try neural-network 2× image super-resolution in your browser. This uses an actual AI model rather than simply stretching pixels.

Experimental: model compatibility varies by browser and device; this tool may fail, especially on phones. The model downloads from Hugging Face on first use and may be large. Processing is local after download. No guaranteed improvement or recovery of lost detail.

Important limitations

AI super-resolution models may introduce artifacts. Try images around 256 × 256 pixels first. The non-AI image enlargement tool is available as a reliable alternative.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP file and try the AI action.
  2. Wait for the model download and processing status.
  3. If AI is unavailable, choose the fast 2× fallback, then inspect and download the result.

How the tool works

The AI path attempts a 2× super-resolution model on a reduced working image. The fast fallback performs ordinary browser enlargement and does not reconstruct detail.

Worked example

For a small product thumbnail, compare the AI result with the source at the same display size. Check lettering and edges; an enlarged image can look different without becoming more accurate.

What to check before using the result

The experimental AI path accepts files up to 5 MB and reduces the working image to a maximum side of 512 px. The fast path starts from up to 1600 px and doubles it. Model or runtime compatibility can fail.

Frequently asked questions

Does AI enlarge the full-size original?

The AI path reduces the source to a maximum side of 512 px before applying the model, so it is not a full-resolution 4K workflow.

Can it invent detail?

AI enhancement may alter textures or edges. Compare with the source and do not treat generated detail as evidence of real features.
