How the tool works
Pixels are compared with the chosen background color. Tolerance determines how far a pixel color may differ while still being made transparent.
Worked example
For a product on a white backdrop, leave the color at white, process the image, then adjust tolerance if a fringe remains. Check that white details on the product have not disappeared.
What to check before using the result
This is color-based removal, not subject-aware segmentation. Matching colors inside the subject can also become transparent. Complex scenes, shadows and glass are difficult. Inputs are limited to 30 MB and output to 32 million pixels.
Frequently asked questions
Will it remove only the outer background?
No. It compares colors across the image, so matching product details can be removed too.
Why does the downloaded image need PNG?
PNG supports transparent pixels. JPG would flatten them onto a solid background.
