How to use this calculator

  1. Measure the packed outer dimensions, including protrusions.
  2. Use centimeters with a divisor intended for cm³ per kg, and enter actual weight in kg.
  3. Confirm your carrier divisor and rounding rules before booking.

Calculation method

Dimensional weight = length × width × height ÷ divisor. Billable weight before carrier rounding = the greater of dimensional weight and actual weight.

Worked example

A 40 × 30 × 20 cm parcel with divisor 5000 has a dimensional weight of 4.8 kg. If actual weight is 3 kg, the displayed billable weight before carrier rounding is 4.8 kg.

What to check before using the result

This is not a shipping-price quote. Carriers can use different divisors, minimums, rounding increments and surcharges. The divisor must be greater than zero.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter inches?

The labels and displayed result use centimeters and kilograms. Convert your measurements first or use a mathematically compatible divisor and interpret units carefully.

Why is billable weight higher than actual weight?

A bulky parcel can occupy more space relative to its mass. The model chooses the larger of actual and dimensional weight.

Dimensional weight in cm and kg

Multiply the outer length, width and height in centimeters, then divide by a divisor expressed in cubic centimeters per kilogram. Use the divisor from your carrier service; the examples below are mathematical comparisons rather than carrier quotes.

Measure the packed box, not just the item inside. Carrier rounding, oversized-parcel rules and surcharges can change the final quote. This online calculator does not scan a parcel or retrieve a shipping rate.
